Summer of Solutions Intern application is finally open!

The application for the 2015 Urban Farming Internship program is now open! Please read the description of our program below, and then forward it on to anyone who you think would make a good fit!
Who: We are looking for 12 interns, ages 14-30 who are passionate about developing together as leaders and building school and community gardens in Hartford. We want to build a diverse team with different skill sets- so you don’t need to be an expert gardener to join!

What: The Urban Farming Internship is a program of Summer of Solutions Hartford. Interns will work in small teams of four at two of our eight garden locations in Hartford. For 8 hours a week the teams will maintain the gardens, organize community activities, and lead classes for elementary school students in the garden.
For 2 hours each Friday from 3-5pm, the whole team will come together for a leadership development and food justice workshop series. To learn more about the day-to-day of the internship you can read out blog here: soshartford.wordpress.com
When: The internship lasts 7 months, from April 1-October 31st. Each garden team will have a different schedule, so interns can choose the one that works best for them. The time commitment is 10 hours/week.
Where: Our gardens are located at the Burns Latino Studies Academy, McDonough Elementary School, Moylan Montessori School, Annie Fisher Montessori School, CT Trash Museum, Connecticut River Academy, the Wesley Colbert Zion Street Community Garden, and a new site to be announced this spring!
The Friday workshop series takes place at Billings Forge Community Works.
Why: The Urban Farming Internship provides an opportunity to work in a strong team to learn urban agriculture and leadership development skills. The internship is paid at $9.25/hour.

How: To apply, please follow the link below and fill out the application. We will get back to you with the status of your application by March 10th via the email address you provide.
