We would like to invite you to celebrate the harvest and the culmination of the 2013 Summer of Solutions Program at a Harvest Festival this Thursday, August 15th from 5-8pm!
We’re hosting the festival at the Wesley Colbert Zion Street Community Garden, which you’ll find at 575 Zion Street (on Zion Street between Park and Ward).
Here are some of the highlights you can expect to find at the Harvest Festival:
Potluck-style Dinner– We will be cooking some dishes using ingredients from our gardens, including pesto pasta, zucchini bread, and our own salsa. Feel free to bring your own dish to contribute or to come try out your neighbors’ cooking!
Face-painting– This year one of our participants, Liz, taught our team how to make plant-based natural dyes. We’ll be using these recipes to do all-natural face painting!
Zucchini Car Races– Try your hand at vegetable race-car construction! We’ll have story books about gardening and nature for the winners!
Farm Stand- You can take home some of our harvest at our farm stand! We’ll be selling eggplant, tomatoes, greens, peppers, herbs, and more!
Live Music– Two local bands will perform at the festival throughout the evening!
We hope you will join us on Thursday evening to celebrate a great summer of community agriculture and to share in the harvest!
